HEY MAMA!
I'M REBECCA
Rebecca Pierce is an author, mother, and entrepreneur born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She spent the last ten years living on Vancouver Island, B.C. with her husband and two young children. She took the leap in December 2023 and moved her family to Portugal to experience motherhood and family life from a new cultural perspective.
Rebecca helps women and mothers redefine parenting roles to help find balance in their lives, and she continues her mission to bring back the village of support for those raising children.
She started her parenting journey isolated and alone, away from friends, family, and support in a small town. Her unique journey at the start of parenthood drove her to explore the systems on which parenting and mothering roles are based and to do something to change them.
Her debut book Without a Village released in October 2023, lifts the veil on how oppressive mothering roles came to be. Through her writing, she helps mothers ignite the flame for change through small steps that can make a big difference in bringing back their sanity and self-identities outside of the 'mother' title.
"Pierce offers a lifeline to mothers feeling overwhelmed by societal expectations. Her book is not just a read; it's a movement towards reclaiming self-worth and happiness in parenting."
You will find me sipping coffee across the river from Lisbon, reading a book, having a picnic with my amazing husband and kids, or answering an email or two.
Do you want to know what lit the spark for me again? Helping mothers take control of their sanity again and making change a positive experience. Balance can be part of your life—you just have to let it in!
I dreamed about a supportive partner, someone who split the difference, helped set a positive example for parenting roles that didn’t seem so outdated, and understood that we could teach out kids to help us take a break once in a while and share a non-resentful kiss!
Our systems are flawed, but you don’t have to lose yourself when you become a mother.
I can’t wait to show you. Let’s bring back the village!

Why is motherhood demanding such a high price?
Rebecca Pierce takes a deep dive into the history of motherhood, exposing the origins of this dilemma and the transformation of motherhood's expectations that have led modern mothers to the brink of burnout. Without a Village is a compelling narrative that seeks to redefine motherhood by emphasizing the importance of shared responsibility and self-worth.
This book is a wake-up call, reminding mothers that they were never meant to be the sole caregivers, caught in an endless cycle of invisible, unpaid labor. By examining history, sharing real-life stories, and providing practical insights, she uncovers the realities of motherhood that many are hesitant to discuss, and provides real solutions to change them.
